    Phoenix golf-products company returns jobs from overseas

    But with new Daphne’s lines introduced over the past few days at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, the company is now able to say some of its products are made in the United States — specifically, in Phoenix. Whether you attend the Waste Management Phoenix Open that starts Monday or watch it on TV, you may see an occasional puppetlike head poking out of someone’s golf bag — perhaps a dog, sock monkey, dragon or other whimsical creature. Although the company only has about 15 employees, compared with 100 at its peak in the 1990s, its rationale for bringing some production back offers hope that other companies may do the same. They are used by golfers to protect expensive clubs from hitting each other and cracking and to express golfers’ personalities, pay homage to pets or display company logos. For the past decade, the covers have been made abroad.
